This test is prescribed in the case of severe male infertility - oligospermia and azoospermia, to get an answer to the question whether a man has a chance of becoming a biological father. One of the causes of male infertility is associated with changes in the Y chromosome: microdeletions in the AZF region. Microdeletion syndrome in the AZF region results in markedly impaired spermatogenesis or its complete arrest.
The result of the testing determines the future steps for the patients who wish to become parents.
